Carpe Diem December Edition to Light Up Harare

One of Zimbabwe’s fastest-growing entertainment platforms, Carpe Diem, is set to light up Harare on 22 December 2025 at Old Hararians Sports Club.

The event, dubbed DJs & Decks – Episode 3, billed as a high-energy festive season celebration, is already attracting strong interest from fans across the capital.

Organisers say more than 60% of the General Access and VIP tickets have been sold, underscoring the event’s growing popularity.

With the show falling just days before Christmas, it is expected to be one of the standout entertainment fixtures of the holiday calendar.

Preparations for the show are said to be progressing smoothly, with organisers reporting high energy across production teams, technical staff, and service providers.

According to the organising team, every department — from staging and lighting to security and hospitality — is now focused on final adjustments.

In an interview with 263Culture event organiser Walter Wanyanya described the atmosphere as “vibrant” and emphasised their commitment to maintaining the precision and high standards for which Carpe Diem has become known.

“Carpe Diem has a reputation for precision and good vibes, so we’re making sure every detail is exactly where it needs to be,” said Wanyanya.

“At this stage, it’s really about fine-tuning and making sure the experience matches the hype.”

Weather Preparedness at the Height of Rainy Season

With Zimbabwe now in its rainy season, organisers have put additional measures in place to ensure weather variations do not interrupt the programme.

Large covered areas will be available for attendees, along with weather-resilient staging designed to withstand the unpredictability of summer storms.

Although the forecast is favourable, the team says they plan for the weather the same way they plan the production: intentionally and with clear contingency plans.

“The production is built to withstand a bit of Zimbabwean summer mischief. Rain or shine, Carpe Diem is going ahead safely and smoothly.”

Carpe Diem December Edition Line-Up

This edition of Carpe Diem brings together a dynamic mix of leading DJs and producers who have shaped African dance music in recent years.

The line-up includes several prominent South African acts alongside respected Zimbabwean performers.

One of the headliners, Dlala Thukzin, has dominated charts across Southern Africa with hits such as “iPlan”, “Permanent Music”, and “Majita”. His signature sound — a fusion of gqom, amapiano, and Afro-house — has made him a staple at major festivals.

Also performing is Sun-El Musician, known for his lush, melodic productions and global hits such as “Akanamali” and “Into Ingawe”. His sets are widely celebrated for their emotional depth and atmospheric layering.

South African media personality and DJ Lamiez Holworthy will also take to the stage. Renowned for her electrifying performances and seamless blending of hip-hop, kwaito, and dance music, she has become a household name across the continent.

Rounding off the South African contingent is Morda (formerly Murdah Bongz), a legendary artist who made his mark as the other half of Black Motion. His Afro-tech sound, rich in percussion and rhythm, has earned him a dedicated following.

Local artists are also well represented, and audiences can look forward to an appearance by Reverb 7, a pioneer of the local house music scene who has carved out a distinct sound blending Afro-house, EDM and experimental textures.

Bantu, a Grammy-nominated LA-based artist known for his Afro-fusion sound and international collaborations, also joins the line-up.

Wanyanya said the artists were carefully selected to create a “sonic journey” that spans multiple electronic subgenres.

“The lineup is stacked; we’ve intentionally curated a blend of heavy hitters and culture shapers to give people a full sonic journey. Each artist brings a different colour to the night.”

Carpe Diem has a tradition of unveiling surprises at the last moment, suggesting that additional performers may still be announced as the event approaches.

“Carpe Diem always likes to keep one or two surprises in the bag. So yes, fans can expect a little extra seasoning as we get closer to the day.”

Since its inception, Carpe Diem has expanded from a promising entertainment concept into a movement that resonates with Zimbabwe’s urban audience.

Its appeal lies in a combination of high-end production, consistent delivery and a deliberate focus on creating a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment.

The organising team believes the event’s growth can be attributed to its commitment to understanding its audience and evolving with them.

“We listen to our audience. Zimbabwe loves a good experience, and we take pride in being able to deliver that consistently.”

Carpe Diem events now attract both local and regional attendees, with many viewing the series as a reliable platform for quality entertainment that matches global festival standards.
