More than 700 industry professionals from over 45 countries are expected in South Africa next week for the ninth Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES).
ACCES 2026 runs from 28 to 31 October. It brings artists, record labels, promoters, publishers and music buyers together for panel discussions, workshops and live performances across Johannesburg.
The four-day event returns to the city for the first time since 2021.
The conference sessions take place on 29 and 30 October at The Forum The Campus, in Bryanston.
Attendance is free, with registration on a first-come, first-served basis.
Questions facing the industry

The programme addresses several pressing questions for the African music business.
These include how artists build international careers, how music companies attract investment and how rights translate into revenue.
Sessions will also look at how touring and digital innovation can link African markets. Other topics are independent music businesses, sustainable local music ecosystems and Africa’s growing cultural influence.
Zimbabwean music and technology entrepreneur Walter Wanyanya is among the speakers. He has managed artists including the late Oliver Mtukudzi and founded Ngoma NeHosho, which hosts the Jacaranda Music Festival and Carpe Diem among other events.
More than 80 musicians on four nights

This year’s edition introduces an expanded showcase format called ACCES Industry Nights, with more than 80 musicians due to perform. Shows run from 28 to 31 October at three Johannesburg venues: The Artistry, Untitled Basement and Jozi Gold.
The line-up features regional and international acts. It includes Sun-El Musician, Blick Bassy, The Joy, Sylent Nqo & The Noisemakers, Rorisang Sechele, Abavuki, Francis Soal, Drega, Maline Aura, Skye Wanda, Kizaba, Kelly Bado, The SN Project, Pilani Bubu and Akra.
These are all seasoned artists who are making a significant contribution to the growth of African music.
The nights are also designed as a meeting point. Performers can connect with music executives, buyers, promoters and potential collaborators from around the world.
Tickets for Industry Nights are being sold separately from the free conference.
Why the multi-venue format matters

The organisers say the move to several venues is meant to create more performance opportunities for artists.
Music In Africa Foundation executive director Eddie Hatitye said expanding across Johannesburg would also improve the experience for delegates and audiences.
ACCES is organised by the Music In Africa Foundation, a non-profit pan-African organisation, in partnership with the City of Johannesburg.
The foundation created ACCES in 2017 to support the development of the African music industry. The event moves to a different African city each year.
Last year’s edition in Tshwane, South Africa, drew more than 2,300 delegates and music fans.
