Percussionist and composer WOWRAE is preparing to bring another edition of Realm of Percussion to Harare, with the outdoor music experience set to combine AfroHouse, AfroTech and traditional African instruments.
The sixth edition will take place on Saturday, 10 October 2026, at a secret location in Msasa, from 2pm to 9pm.
Unlike conventional DJ events, Realm of Percussion places live percussion and Zimbabwean musical heritage at the centre of its electronic music experience, with nature forming part of the setting.
WOWRAE’s vision for Realm of Percussion

WOWRAE, real name Kudzai Vincent Muwori, created Realm of Percussion to bring traditional Zimbabwean instruments into contemporary electronic music.
His performances combine live chromatic marimba, ngoma drums, hosho, cowbells and other percussion with AfroHouse and AfroTech sounds.
Rather than using these instruments as occasional additions to electronic tracks, WOWRAE makes them central to the performance.
The result is a blend of traditional rhythms and modern dance music that presents Zimbabwean musical heritage in a contemporary context.
Realm of Percussion began as a YouTube series in 2025 before developing into a live event. Its first public edition took place on 5 July that year, followed by a second on 27 September. The third edition was held on 2 May 2026.
Previous events have taken place at various locations including Domboshava Mountain and Haka Game Park Quarry, reflecting the project’s emphasis on outdoor settings.
Music, nature and a shared experience

Realm of Percussion is designed to offer more than a conventional dance floor. Its organisers select outdoor locations that become part of the experience, with the venue’s exact location and directions disclosed after tickets are purchased.
The format brings together electronic music, live instrumental performances and opportunities for audiences to connect with artists and fellow attendees.
It also encourages people to discover outdoor spaces while engaging with the electronic music culture.
The event’s philosophy centres on shared participation. There are no VIP sections, audience barriers or physical divisions separating performers from attendees.
That approach reflects the concept of Ubuntu, placing community and collective experience at the heart of the gathering.
Realm of Percussion October 2026 lineup
The upcoming edition features a mix of DJs and live performers, including Zimbabwean and international talent.
WOWRAE will lead the event with his percussion-driven performance, while the wider lineup includes Shi (Kenya), Jason Le Roux, Rorri and Ash T. Thomas Farinelli will perform alongside Handpan Monte-Carlo (Monaco), adding another instrumental dimension to the programme.
The selection reflects Realm of Percussion’s interest in bringing different musical approaches together within an outdoor setting.
Previous editions have featured performers such as Tapiwa, Bella Boom, KC & Amir and Vanta V Black, as well as Shamiso and Machezhi from South Africa and Tina Ardor from Kenya.
The organisers have also identified the promotion of female AfroHouse and AfroTech artists as an important part of the platform’s development.
