Garden of House Debuts In Harare

Garden of House, Zimbabwe’s fast-rising Afrohouse and deep house movement, is set to make its debut in Harare this Sunday at the First Capital Bank Sports Club.

This will be its 13th edition, marking a significant milestone for the cultural and music collective that started in Bulawayo in November 2022.

Founded on a deep love for house music and the community around it, Garden of House has evolved into a platform that celebrates rhythm, art, and togetherness.

What began as a small gathering of house music enthusiasts has grown into one of Zimbabwe’s most influential movements in the electronic music scene.

263Culture caught up with the organiser, Andile Sikhosana, who shed more light on the event.

“At its core, Garden of House aims to uplift local DJs, producers, and creatives, especially from Bulawayo and across Zimbabwe, by giving them a stage to share their talent alongside established names,” said Andile Sikhosana.

“It’s not just about music; it’s also about lifestyle, fashion, art, and connection.”

A Platform for Zimbabwean Creativity

Garden of House

Since its inception, Garden of House has become more than a party. It is now a hub of creativity and opportunity, generating employment and exposure for young people in the arts sector, from DJs and photographers to fashion designers and vendors.

“What started as a simple idea has now become a movement that creates opportunities and employment for many young people in the creative industry.

“It has helped shine a light on local talent, giving artists the exposure and confidence to take their craft to the next level.”

The event has not only drawn local attention but has also begun positioning Zimbabwe as a noteworthy contributor to the global Afrohouse landscape.

Harare Debut: A New Chapter

Garden of House Harare

The decision to host Garden of House in Harare was driven by a vision of growth and national unity.

With its thriving and diverse music scene, Harare provides fertile ground for the movement’s next stage.

“Harare has a vibrant and diverse music scene, and bringing the event there allows us to connect with new fans, artists, and brands who share the same love for Afrohouse culture.

“Hosting it in the capital helps us build stronger national unity through music, create more employment opportunities, and give local talent in the city a platform to shine.”

According to organisers, the response in Harare has been overwhelmingly positive.

It comes as no surprise that music lovers in the capital are jumping on the bandwagon, considering the buzz it generates every time it is hosted in the City of Kings and Queens.

“The energy and support have been incredible. You can really feel that people in Harare are embracing the movement and the vibe that Garden of House brings.”
