Scara’s death was a huge loss to the industry
The capital’s nightlife will not be the same again after the demise Delroy ‘Scara’ Maripakwenda, with the popular drummer succumbing to heart failure last week.
While he rose to fame as the heartbeat of Winky D’s live sets, he had also grown to become one of the most prominent entertainers on the club scene, with his deft touch on drums adding life to redundant DJ sessions.
Scara, alongside his Nu Vyb counterparts DJ Butler and MC Tats had become permanent fixtures at various premium leisure spots including Club Connect, Dreams Nightlife and Wood to name just a few.
His death came as a shock to many who had become accustomed to the vibrant character who was always bubbly even offstage.
It is no surprise that celebrities, socialites and hedonists alike including Winky D, DJ Flevah, Abisha Palmer, Spencer Madziya, DJ Iroq and Kunashe ‘Prezha Manager’ Mangoro among others went in numbers to pay their last respects.
Radio personality and MC Abisha Palmer said Scara’s death was a huge loss to the industry as the drummer left a big gap which will be difficult to fill.
