ZIMA appoints Kush as new CEO
The Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) has announced Fungai Zvirawa, also known as “Kush,” as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Reason Sibanda.
Joseph Nyadzayo, ZIMA’s chairperson, expressed excitement about Zvirawa’s appointment, highlighting her extensive experience in the music industry, including work with internationally acclaimed artists.
“Kush has a robust background spanning over a decade in the music industry. Ms Zvirawa brings with her a wealth of experience in artiste management, event organization, and the creation of innovative campaigns,” said Nyadzayo.
He emphasised Kush’s potential to elevate ZIMA to global recognition, noting her past successes in advertising and the music industry.


The new CEO, in her acceptance speech, pledged to enhance the stature of Zimbabwean musicians, prioritizing local talent.
“My vision is to give the music awards a new dimension and to continue enhancing and adding value to Zimbabwe Music Awards,” said Kush.
She also revealed plans to announce the roadmap for upcoming music awards in the next few weeks.
Outgoing CEO Sibanda expressed support for his successor, stating, “I’m glad that we have considered a culture of allowing new ideas to come in to take ZIMA to the next level. I will render a lot of support to Kush and I have much confidence in her.”
During his tenure, Sibanda facilitated initiatives such as organizing virtual awards during the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuring proper accommodation for the late Dick Chingaira, known as Cde Chinx Chingaira, a prominent figure in Zimbabwean music history.
