When it comes to major players on the local dancehall scene, DJ Flevah is one of the names that pops up.

The DJ who rose to fame under the Judgement Yard banner has been a prominent figure on the local leisure scene for many years.

From mixing it up behind the decks at some of the best nightclubs in the country to having a slot on radio, he has proven time and time again just how talented he is.

For the past few weeks however, DJ Flevah has been nowhere to be seen with many of wondering which club or show he will feature next.

Unfortunately, the DJ’s local fanbase might not be seeing him for a long time as he clandestinely moved to the United Kingdom a few weeks ago.

In an interview with 263Culture DJ Flevah said he moved for his personal growth and career development.

It seems like he has managed to find his feet quickly in the new setup as he has already performed at various events.

“Many doors have been opening up since I got here and I have been playing every week in different cities.

“The market is huge here and honestly I feel very much appreciated everywhere I have played so far. “I have a feeling I will do well as I have started getting inquiries from Poland, Netherlands, Germany, USA, South Africa and even back home.”

While some have been speculating if he is still working with  Judgement Yard family or not, Flevah confirmed that he is still part of the movement despite having taken a step back to focus on other things.

The new solo path does not seem to be slowing him down as he is already planning to cook up new mixtapes, with the projects set to feature Jamaican artistes.

“I will be coming through with new mixtapes soon and I have been talking to some Jamaicans who are keen on working with me on the projects.”

He added that the DJ culture in the UK was a bit different that the local scene in numerous ways.

“People here appreciate DJs a lot more and they know how to create good vibes. Sometimes back home, when you play brand new music the crowd might not warm up to you which is why you might have noticed that most DJs play it safe and stick to the same playlists.

“At least now I am in an environment where I can introduce brand new and exclusive international dancehall music. When it comes to Zimdancehall, I have always been the one the break the new hits and will continue doing that since I still have my slot on ZIFM Stereo.”

On whether he would be doing any shows back home, the wheel spinner said that he hopes more opportunities will come his way.

“I am actually looking forward to having more shows back home. As they say, there is no place like home.

“I have been a part of the Econet Vic Falls Marathon for a while and I am looking forward to the 2024 event.”

DJ Flevah is comfortable playing various genres having started off as an R’n’B DJ before specializing on reggae dancehall.

This has made it possible for him to to play in various setups including weddings and corporate events.

He finished off by thanking everyone who has been supporting him throughout his career.

“I am humbled by the overwhelming love and support that the music fraternity has been giving me throughout  my career.

“This love and support gives me the hope and strength I need to proceed to take the game a level higher.”
