Top hip hop artist Holy Ten joined forces with Michael “Magz” Magondo to release an exciting collaborative album titled “The New Bhundu Boyz.”
This release marks a significant milestone in Michael Magz’s career, as he had always dreamt of creating music that resonates with fans nationwide.
After catching the attention of Holy Ten last year, Magz secured a contract with Samanyanga Sounds alongside Mr Candy.
In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style, Michael Magz revealed that he and Holy Ten had primarily focused on releasing individual tracks until they decided it was time to venture into album territory.
December saw the unveiling of their track titled “Marisa,” which was met with great acclaim.
Following that success, in January of this year, they dropped another sensational hit called “Pressure,” which has been causing quite a stir within the Zimbabwean hip-hop community.
During the album launch event held last Friday at the picturesque Golden Conifer Gardens in Harare, Magz expressed his enthusiasm for exploring new sounds and breaking away from their conventional hip-hop style.
He stated, “After creating several hit single tracks with Holy Ten, we made the decision to offer our fans something distinct from our usual repertoire. As music continues to evolve every day, it’s crucial that people don’t become accustomed to hearing the same sound repeatedly.”
Magz further elaborated, saying, “We spent months immersing ourselves in various genres, becoming familiar with their unique characteristics, until we finally produced the remarkable 11-track album, ‘The New Bhundu Boyz.’ Through our combined skills in music production and engineering, we’ve crafted a musical experience that captures the essence of our artistic collaboration.”
Shawn Maguma, Holy Ten’s manager, attributed the success of this project to the undeniable chemistry between the two artists.
He described “The New Bhundu Boyz” album as a metamorphosis from Holy Ten’s previous works, encouraging fans to listen with an open mind and embrace the transformation.
“As Holy Ten always says, ‘Kutaura nyaya semaziviro aanoita’ (Speak with authority as if you know what you’re talking about),” Maguma emphasized.
Additionally, the album drew inspiration from Holy Ten’s personal life, particularly his recent marriage to model Kimberly Chigubhu, also known as Richard’s.
This joyous milestone infused an extra layer of passion and love into the creative process, adding depth and authenticity to the album’s lyrical content.
