Changamire Festival Awards 2023 | Holy Ten, Kikky Badass leading the line
The Changamire Festival Awards organizers have announced the nomination list for its 8th edition.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for April 12 at Long Cheng Plaza in Belvedere.
Holy Ten has once again proven to be a dominant force on the local hip hop scene with a record-breaking 14 nominations.
Holy Ten’s consistency throughout the past year has earned him nominations for Best Male, Best Album, People’s Choice, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Hip-Hop Verse, Socialite of The Year, Best Hip-Hop Group, Best Performance Act, Best Alternative Act, Best Collaboration, and 2 Songs of The Year.
Kikky Badass is also proving to be very competitive in the genre, leading on the female side with 11 nominations.
These include Best Female, Song of The Year, People’s Choice, Best Alternative Song, Best Hip-Hop Verse, Best Performance Act, Best Hip-Hop Group, Best Hip-Hop Video, Socialite of The Year, and 2 Best Collaboration.
It’s worth noting that Kikky Badass boycotted the Zim Hip-Hop Awards last year due to irregularities in the nomination process.
After being nominated in four categories, she flagged the issues and eventually did not submit her work for nomination.
Changamire Festival Awards director Jackson “Zimboy” Muchechetere confirmed the nomination list, which was released via social media.
The upcoming show will feature regional artists and local urban grooves artists, with honorary awards presented to Roki, Nadia Nakai, and Blackie as the most influential female and male African artists, respectively.
This year’s show has at least 30 categories, with notable mentions including Voltz JT, Saint Floew, and Crooger, each nominated for seven categories.
