Creed III Box Office Knockout| Film Enjoys Massive Global Opening
Creed III has had a very successful opening weekend, making $100.4 million around the world.
Of that, $41.8 million came from 75 international markets.
The film also had a very good opening domestically, breaking records for the franchise and being the best opening ever for a sports movie.
This is also the biggest opening weekend the franchise has ever had internationally.
Compared to the previous two Creed movies, Creed III is tracking ahead both in like-for-like markets and using historical exchange rates.
Warner Bros released Creed III overseas as part of their multi-year agreement with MGM.
The movie was very successful in France, where it made $7.7 million on 633 screens, beating the previous Creed movies by a significant amount.
The UK also had a successful opening, making $6.1 million, which was 136% higher than the first Creed movie and 71% higher than the second.
Germany, Italy, and Mexico rounded out the top five markets, all making over $3 million.
The movie was also filmed for IMAX, and made $9.6 million globally, with France leading in IMAX ticket sales.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, which was released by Disney/Marvel, also did well, making $22 million in 52 markets.
Avatar: The Way of Water continued to do well, making another $6.1 million from 52 markets.
This week, Paramount’s Scream VI will start to be released globally.
In China, there will be the release of the local comedy Post Truth, which is expected to increase business.
