Since its release, the album has been a topic of discussion across all spheres of society in Zimbabwe.

While the body of work is being released in bits and pieces, it has already been clouded by controversy, with politics being thrown into the fray.

Holy Ten Regrets working with Winky D

After the release of Winky D’s collaboration with Holy Ten, Ibotso, there has not been a shortage of drama surrounding the song.

As political activists and journalists started weighing in on the song which addresses the current economic climate in Zimbabwe and how it affects the youths, it seems like Holy Ten couldn’t take the heat.

The self-proclaimed Leader of the Youths quickly wanted to distance himself from the project, stating that he wishes he had not been a part of it.

The Infamous Tweet

“Activists, journalists, lawyers – Split opinions will not do any good for a brand that’s trying to serve & save everyone so help me by not acting like I’ve picked a side. Do not politicize a project that I’ve considered a mere honor to be a part of. I regret it now honestly,” said Holy Ten via his Twitter handle.

This Tweet immediately started a social media storm, with opinions flying in from every direction.

It became a battle between Citizens Coalition for Change and Zanu PF supporters.

The Economic Empowerment Group even held a press conference to express their disapproval of the music.

Some were of the view that he should not have said that and remained quiet while another section endorsed the statement.

Winky D has never been one to shy away from social commentary and always stands by his lyrics.
