If you are reading this, we would assume that you have an interest of some sort in Zimbabwean art and culture.

Well, you are definitely in the right place because this blog has been created just for that, the discussion of Zimbabwe’s arts and culture.

The primary focus will be on subjects that include music, theatre, film, art, poetry, travel and lifestyle to name just few.

While there are three main contributors to the blog (who have all chosen to remain anonymous), we are also going to be publishing a lot of posts from guest writers representing various sections of the country’s cultural industry.

Some might ask, “Why the anonymity?” Well, the simple response is that we want to be as independent as possible when it comes to writing our articles, so the less people know our actual identities, the better we avoid external interference. (Honestly, one of us is a classic douche who can sometimes be brutal with his opinions…some will certainly be offended…better safe than sorry)

However, this particular trio has over a decade of experience in the subject up for discussion, having been involved in the local industry in various capacities for years.

Some of you might know us, we might even be friends (we are not snitches) but whatever we are going to write here is not meant to be personal. So don’t take it personal.

If there is something you wish to add, our comment section is open season.

One of the main reasons leading to the creation of this platform was to provide free space where various topics can be dissected in a manner unlike that of mainstream media (major newspapers, radio, TV).

There are certain lines that cannot be crossed when you are writing for these major publications as they have their own sets of rules and editorial policies (sucks). They pull their punches and don’t really hit hard which sometimes just defeats the whole purpose of certain discussions.

Not to say that we are unorthodox, we have ethics (who are we kidding), but our boundaries are a bit flexible.

The other thing is that mainstream media rarely gives art practitioners the platform where they can also voice their opinions and respond to issues that affect them. 263Culture is going to open up that doorway.

We are going to try our best to create captivating content that sparks public discussion. Articles that actually make a significant contribution to the local culture sector.

Just bear in mind that the majority of blogs published here will be personal opinions and not necessarily fact so don’t be quick to explode and hurl insults at us. We are open to your opinions as well and we will certainly take heed of the feedback we get from you.

We are just hoping you enjoy and appreciate our content. Don’t forget to share with your friends.
