The Embassy of the Republic of Korea is set to celebrate 30 years of bilateral relations with Zimbabwe by hosting an exciting art exhibition titled “Weave Fortune.”

This week-long event will be held at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Harare from Thursday, July 4th to Tuesday, July 9th, 2024.

The exhibition promises to be a vibrant showcase of creativity, culture, and sustainability.

Organized by Just Project, a waste management program focused on upcycling, reuse, and recycling, “Weave Fortune” aims to highlight environmentally conscious creative practices.

The exhibition will feature a diverse range of design products made from non-biodegradable materials, showcasing how waste can be transformed into beautiful and functional art.

Just Project is known for its collaborative efforts with designers worldwide, and this exhibition is no exception.

The event will feature contributions from eight different art and design collectives, representing both South Korea and Zimbabwe.

From South Korea, the exhibitors include Just Project, Cueclyp, Gongyega, and Unrollsurface.

Representing Zimbabwe are Patch Zimbabwe, Paper Pieces, Vanhu Vamwe, and Krafted Ink.

One of the exhibition’s key focuses is on women creatives, who play a crucial role in the informal industry through sustainable practices rooted in indigenous knowledge systems.

Weaving, in particular, will be a highlighted theme, reflecting the rich cultural traditions and innovative spirit of both countries.

“Weave Fortune” offers a unique opportunity for the public to experience a blend of art and sustainability.

Visitors can explore how everyday materials, often considered waste, can be repurposed into stunning artworks.

The exhibition underscores the importance of environmental awareness and the creative potential of recycling and upcycling.
