The Covid-19 pandemic might have slowed down development in many sectors, but it seems like the world of technology has been moving on like nothing ever happened.

While 2020 was loaded with cool gadget releases and new tech introductions, that year is over and done with and it’s time to focus on what 2021 has to offer.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2021) which was running throughout this whole week has already given us insight into some of the cool stuff we are supposed to be ready for this year.

There are many tech devices and platforms that are set to be rolled out this year and in this article, we are just going to talk about the few that we are really excited about.

1. 5G

The transition from 4G to 5G technology is probably the biggest topic right now in the world of tech and something that we are also looking forward to (F**k the conspiracy theorists).

While the 5th generation of wireless technology has already started rolling out in various regions with Chinese tech giant Huawei leading the race in setting up its infrastructure, 2021 might just be the year that we see it expanding to other territories.

With the growing demand for faster internet speed and flawless connectivity, this might just be what the doctor ordered with this advancement promising an experience that is 10 times to 100 times faster than its predecessor.

Most of the mobile phones that are being released are 5G compatible which basically means the wireless revolution is here.

From basic smart phones to artificial intelligence, we are definitely going to be seeing more innovations taking advantage to 5G in 2021.

2. JBL Tour Pro+ Earbuds

JBL Live Free NC

When it comes to audio solutions, JBL comes highly rated. They are one of the best brands in the business, churning out top of the range products that many enthusiasts are always looking out for.

A few days ago, they introduced the JBL Tour Series which includes two models, the JBL Tour ONE over-ear noise cancelling headphones and JBL Tour Pro+ true wireless earbuds.

While the larger and bulkier headphones are great in their own right, we are more interested in the smaller and more futuristic earbuds. These babies which do not have any dangling cable in sight pack a punch with Adaptive Noise Cancelling technology which shuts out all outside noises or lets in background audio if users need to stay aware of their surroundings.

Fast Pair automatically pairs the earbuds to an Android user’s device as soon as the case is opened, while Dual Connect + Sync provides the choice to seamlessly enjoy music or make calls with either one or both buds.

Over 30 hours of total music playback with Qi wireless charging and 3-mic beamforming array technology for voice clarity, the JBL Tour Pro+ are beasts in terms of performance to say the least.

Other features include Hands-free voice capability with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant,  IPX4 Sweatproof, Customized tap panel control, “Check My Best Fit”, allowing users to check the ear fit by app and Speed Charge to name a few.

The JBL Tour Pro+ will be available at major retailers and on JBL.com on May 30 and will cost $199.95.

3. SprayCare Band

Spray Care Band

This is probably one of the most interesting devices on this list, one that we actually need during this pandemic.SprayCare is a wearable band that sprays sanitizer on your hands at the touch of a button.

Designed to fit into a wristband no larger than your Apple Watch, the SprayCare contains a tiny vial, an atomizer nozzle, and an electronic pump that you actuate using a button. Fill the vial with sanitizer and the SprayCare lets you deploy a fine mist of disinfectant on an object before you touch it.

3. Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S21 line

Samsung fanatics will be all smiles after the company has unveiled the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The new phones are set to hit the market on January 29 and with the price tags that will range from $799 right up to $2000 for the various versions.

While there are not much differences between the S21 and S21 Plus versions, the S21 Ultra is definitely going to set the pace for the 2021 smartphone race.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra boasts of a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED (3200 x 1440; adaptive 10Hz – 120Hz) screen, Snapdragon 888 CPU, 12GB – 16GB RAM, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB storage options and 5,000 mAh battery size.

For the rear cameras, you are looking at 108MP (f/1.8) wide; 12MP (f/2.2) ultrawide; 10MP (f/2.4) telephoto with 3x zoom; 10MP (f/4.9) telephoto with 10x zoom.

The front camera is also not a joke coming in with 40MP (f/2.2).

This is definitely one phone you should get your hands on if you are into Android phones, unless of cause you want to wait a bit and see what other companies like Huawei spring up with as the year progresses.

3. LG Rollable Phone

LG has just confirmed that their rollable phone is coming out some time this year as they showcased their gadget at the Consumer Electronics Show.

“Our management wanted to show that it is a real product, as there were many rumors around the rollable phone,” said an LG spokesperson in a statement.

LG Electronics President and CTO I.P. Park has also highlighted that they are hoping to see it out in the market early this year.

The LG Rollable has what the company calls a ‘unique resizable screen’ that extends from a phone into a small tablet display. The screen slides in and out of place to provide a bigger screen area.

While there is not much info about the new device, it is definitely something we will be keeping an eye out for.
