Taylor Swift Shines at MTV Video Music Awards
Taylor Swift had a shining night at the MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday, securing her second consecutive win for video of the year.
Swift collected her moon-man trophy for her “Anti-Hero” music video at the event in New Jersey, taking a break from her “Eras” tour.
She also won the same award last year for her “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)” music video.
The “Bejeweled” singer scooped up at least three more awards that night, including song of the year, best pop, and best direction for “Anti-Hero.”
She had additional nominations for artist of the year, best cinematography, best visual effects, and best editing, although these were not presented during the live broadcast.
Expressing her delight, Swift stated, “I am so, so happy because this is validating my favorite part of what I get to do,” while accepting her trophy for song of the year.
These victories coincide with Swift’s ongoing highly successful era, which began in 2022 with the release of her 10th studio album, “Midnights.”
In October, shortly after the release of “Midnights,” Swift achieved a remarkable feat by claiming all top ten spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart simultaneously, according to the music charting site.
Swift made history as the first artist to accomplish this feat in Billboard’s 64-year history, and she has continued to break various streaming records since then.
The star has had a notable history with the MTV VMAs, including the infamous interruption by Kanye West in 2009 during her acceptance speech for the best female video award for “You Belong with Me.”
In 2015, during her “1989” era, Swift brought her “Bad Blood” music video squad, including Karlie Kloss, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Hailee Steinfeld, and Cara Delevingne, to the show. She also briefly reconciled with West when she presented him with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award that year.
In 2022, while accepting the award for best longform video, Swift announced the release of “Midnights.”
