Selekta Base Sets the UK Alight with Sold-Out Tour Celebrating African Music and Unity
Afro-fusion DJ and promoter Selekta Base has wrapped up an electrifying tour across the UK that featured a series of sold-out events, leaving fans buzzing from Birmingham to Winchester and Leeds.
With back-to-back performances and a star-studded lineup of guest artists, Selekta Base proved once again why he is one of the most exciting names in African music today.
The tour kicked off in Birmingham on May 24, where Selekta Base headlined the “1st King of Clubs” event—an unforgettable night that featured Zimbabwean superstar Jah Prayzah as a special guest.
Fans filled the venue to capacity, dancing to a fusion of Afrobeat, Amapiano, dancehall, and Zimdancehall beats that kept the party going into the early hours.
The momentum continued on May 25, with Selekta Base pulling off not one, but two major events in a single day.
The first was held at the Southampton Hampshire County Council Sportsground in Petersfield, Winchester, hosted by Impala Butcheries as part of the Africa Day celebrations. This cultural showcase featured some of the continent’s rising stars, including South African influencer and DJ Cyan Boujee, as well as crowd-favourites Mashwede DJs, Golden Lady, Sady, Mike Kilah, and DJ Deuce. The event drew a diverse audience, highlighting the UK’s growing appreciation for African music and talent.
Later that same day, the energy shifted north to Leeds, where the Dunstable Family BBQ brought together families and music lovers for a festive outdoor celebration. Hosted by the charismatic King Alfred, the event featured performances by Zimdancehall heavyweights Templeman, Chillspot’s Fantan and Levels, and rapper Bazooka, turning the family event into a full-blown concert.
Reflecting on the successful tour, Selekta Base and his management team expressed their heartfelt appreciation to fans and the UK community.
“We are deeply grateful for the love, energy, and support we received across the UK. Every city showed up and showed love, and it’s moments like these that inspire us to keep pushing African music to global heights,” said Selekta Base.
With this tour, Selekta Base not only celebrated Africa Day in grand style but also solidified his status as a leading ambassador for African music on the international stage.
Fans can expect more from Selekta Base soon, as the DJ continues to expand his global footprint—one sold-out show at a time.
