Qatar Airways Opens Harare Office

Qatar Airways has officially opened its Zimbabwean office in Harare.

This comes shortly after the airline launched a linked service connecting Doha with Lusaka, Zambia, and Harare.

The new service offers thrice-weekly flights departing from Doha on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Hon Mike Madiro, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Tawanda Gusha, CEO of Airports Company of Zimbabwe, Godfrey Maravanyika, CEO of National Handling Services, Paul Matamisa, CEO of Tourism Business Council, and representation from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, led by Godfrey Koti, Head Corporate Affairs.

One notable aspect of Qatar Airways’ commitment to the local communities is its decision to employ Zambian and Zimbabwean nationals as part of its cabin crew.

By doing so, the airline aims to foster greater connections with the region and support the growth of the African economy.

Fouad Caunye, Regional Manager for Qatar Airways, expressed optimism about the airline’s ambitious plans for Africa.

Acknowledging Africa as one of the world’s fastest-growing economic regions, with increasing consumer demand and abundant natural resources, the airline sees immense potential not only in outbound travel from Zimbabwe and Zambia but also in inbound traffic from India, the UK, and the Americas.

Strengthening trade and tourism links between Zimbabwe, Zambia, and destinations on the Qatar Airways network is a priority, with the aim of promoting the recovery of tourism and trade in the region.

Qatar Airways’ commitment to Africa is further evidenced by its recent network expansion.

The airline has added four new routes to Accra, Abidjan, Abuja, and Luanda. Additionally, it has resumed services to Alexandria, Cairo, and Khartoum, effectively increasing its footprint to an impressive 27 destinations across 21 countries.

As Qatar Airways continues to invest in the African market, its presence is poised to have a positive impact on the region’s aviation industry and foster greater economic and cultural exchanges between Africa and the rest of the world. – Zim Travel Guide
