Nkosazana Daughter sues Mac G for R13 million over defamation…with the musician accusing the podcasters for fabricating rumours for views.

Nkosazana Daughter, real name Nolwazi Nzama, has filed a defamation lawsuit against podcast host Macgyver “Mac G” Mukwevho, seeking R13 million in damages.

The legal action follows contentious remarks made by Mac G on his popular podcast, Podcast and Chill, where he alleged that the father of Nkosazana Daughter’s child was not fellow musician Sir Trill, as widely believed, but rather Master KG.

In an episode aired in July, Mac G stated, “Someone in Botswana told me, and they are very close to Nkosazana Daughter. Apparently, that’s not Sir Trill’s kid; it’s Master KG’s kid, bro. I kid you not.”

This claim ignited a storm of controversy, especially given ongoing rumours about Nkosazana Daughter‘s relationship with Sir Trill, who was thought to be the father of her child.

Adding to the speculation, co-host Sol Phenduka suggested that these paternity rumours may have caused a rift between Sir Trill and Nkosazana Daughter.

In response, Nkosazana Daughter took to social media to firmly deny the allegations, stating: “I assure you, big time, my relationship with Master KG is not romantic or sexual! Like I said before, KG and I only work together.”

She expressed disappointment over the rumours, accusing those involved of fabricating stories for attention.

“All this for views? I’m so disappointed at how low people can go, not to mention how women are so disrespected in this industry!” she said.

She further added, “It’s so unfortunate that you will never see the amount of work that we have put out, because I’m female I must be sleeping with him. Disgusting.”

The Defamation Lawsuit

The lawsuit, filed in the Johannesburg High Court, accuses Mac G of defamation, citing the damage done to Nkosazana Daughter’s personal and professional reputation.

The suit claims that the statements were based on hearsay, which violates rules of evidence, and that the ongoing harm to her reputation is significant.

In addition to the monetary damages, Nkosazana Daughter is seeking a public retraction and apology from Mac G and his co-hosts.

The court filing reads: “An oral, televised, and written apology issued by the first and/or second and/or third defendant to the plaintiff.”

The lawsuit also demands that Mac G, Phenduka, and any other relevant parties pay the R13 million in damages, either collectively or individually.

Industry Reaction as Nkosazana Daughter Sues Mac G

As news of the lawsuit spread, Mac G became a trending topic on social media.

Fans and commentators have weighed in on the situation, with some siding with Nkosazana Daughter and others defending the controversial podcast host.

Nota Baloyi, a well-known industry figure, commented on the situation, saying, “Mac G is in serious trouble … He needs to negotiate an out-of-court settlement because no judge will have mercy on his business.”

This lawsuit highlights the growing tension between public figures and the media, particularly in the entertainment industry, where rumours and allegations can significantly affect personal and professional lives.

As the case unfolds, all eyes will be on whether Mac G will issue an apology or fight the defamation claims in court.

This high-profile defamation case underscores the delicate balance between free speech and responsible journalism in South Africa’s entertainment industry.

While Podcast and Chill remains a popular platform, the outcome of this case may set a precedent for how such matters are handled in the future, particularly when sensitive personal matters are at stake.
