The Bulawayo party scene is set to explode as Munch & Sip takes over Harry Allen Golf Club on Saturday.

Being one of the most popular events on the City of Kings and Queens’ calendar, the hype has been shooting through the roof as the day draws closer.

This edition is poised to be bigger as a new format, which features two stages, is being introduced.

There will be a Main Stage, where some of the best local and international entertainers will perform, as well as what is being dubbed “The Munch Stage”, which will have top chefs chopping it up live.

An interesting concept considering that it is a food festival after all.

Previous editions have mainly focused on the entertainment or rather music side of things, with the food aspect being more of a side activity.

These new changes will surely attract more foodies and cooking enthusiasts.

About the new cooking stage

In an interview with 263Culture Munch & Sip founder Mandipa Masuku said shed more light on what will be taking place on the newly introduced stage.

“We have always said we are a food festival, so we are starting to ruffle our feathers and introduce a cooking stage,” said Masuku.

“This section is family friendly, all drinkers move on towards the music stage because here it’s all about recreating a Zimbabwean meal.

“At 1pm chef Carl Joshua Ncube will start cooking live on stage with 2 hours on the clock. He will cook and give a few tasters and talk to you to explain what he is making and where is can be found.”

With Carl being one of the country’s top comedians, this session is definitely going to be a ‘funny affair’.

Next up will be Chef Sindi who will bring her own twist to the cooking stage, offering a modern take on Zimbabwean flavors with a homely feel.

In between cooking demonstrations, attendees can participate in interactive games, including eating competitions.

Harry Allen Golf Club holds sentimental value for the city of Bulawayo.

The golf course recently suffered significant damage due to a fire, and Munch n Sip organizers are keen to reinvigorate the venue through this event.

“We would like to give back and bring huge activity to the golf course.”

Discussions with the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) are ongoing to ensure smooth access to the venue as it is located near a busy highway.
