Mbeu fires manager after seven years
Afro-fusion artist, Ashton “Mbeu” Nyahora, has fired his manager of seven years, citing lack of real growth and innovation.
Once touted as Pakare Paye Arts Centre’s brightest prospect, after honing his skills under the great mentorship of the late Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, the Mhodzi Tribe-frontman said it was over between him and former manager, Eugine Museredza.
The 29-year-old said recent developments at his camp prompted him to make the move to save his brand.
This follows a nightmarish tour of South Africa, where he escaped the wrath of enraged fans, who were baying for his blood.
“To all my fans, the corporate world and promoters, I would like to inform them that we are no longer working with Mr Eugine Museredza as our manager.
“We have since roped in a booking agent whose details are available on our social media handles to assist us as we look for Mr Museredza’s replacement.
“It’s a business decision that we have taken after realising that my affairs were not professionally handled,” he said.
Mbeu said he was still in good books with Museredza but it was high time his former manager was shown the exit.
“The recent development in South Africa, where we dealt with a dubious promoter, was the final nail on the coffin as the promoter reneged on his plans resulting in me nearly being caught in the crossfire.
“I don’t know what they had promised each other with my former manager but I ended up incurring losses as the promoters failed to meet their costs, including a session band that was supposed to back me,” he said.
Museredza said he was not ready to give his side of the story.
“For now, I don’t have a comment on the issue. I will only talk when the time is right for me to do so,” said Museredza.
He is believed to be weighing up offers from other groups. The Norton-based Museredza is also believed to be considering legal action against Mbeu, according to his inner circle. – H-Metro
