Jacaranda Music Festival On This Weekend
The Harare leisure scene is going to be hot this weekend despite the chilly weather as the Stanbic Bank Jacaranda Music Festival kicks off today.
This three day fete which will be held at Thornpark Polo Club is poised to be an epic experience with a mixed bad of top talent set to perform.
With the likes of Dlala Thukzin, Cassper Nyovest, MiCasa, Freeman HKD, DJ Neptune, Mokoomba, Musa Keys, Master H and Mörda to name a few on the lineup, this will one explosive party.
As the hype is going off the charts, there are some who still have some questions about the event and this article will try to answer some of them.
How to Get to The Jacaranda Music Festival Venue
To get to Thornpark Polo Club from the CBD, head north on Sam Nujoma Street (2nd Street Extension) and keep driving past Harare Drive.
When you pass the Zimbabwe Defense College, continue for about kilometer or so and the venue will be on your left.
Jacaranda Music Festival Tickets
The tickets are being sold at Tech Tools Avondale, Pariah State Avondale and Pariah State Borrowdale.
They can also be purchased at the gate, but this is usually a risky option as they might sell out before you get there.
A day pass is being sold for $30, a three day weekend pass is going for $80 while a VIP day pass is going for $80.
Something to take note of though, these tickets were almost sold out as of yesterday with the organisers highlighting they had sold 75% of the Friday tickets, 90% of the Saturday tickets and 80% of the Sunday tickets.
As we mentioned in an earlier article, you should only purchase tickets from the three authorised outlets as well as the official ticket booths at the gate.
Just like many other events, there are bound to be scammers selling fake tickets and these will certainly not get you in as there are measures in place to authenticate legitimate passes.
When you get your tag at the gate, re-entry if you are to step out is only allowed on Saturday and Sunday, but you won’t be able to do that on tonight.
Are Cooler Boxes Allowed?
The issue of bringing cooler boxes to the Stanbic Bank Jacaranda Music Festival has been a major talking point on social media.
On the opening day of the event, cooler boxes are not allowed into the venue.
On Saturday and Sunday, people can come with their cooler boxes but these will attract a $10 corkage fee and they must not exceed a total volume of 26 liters.
If you were planning on bringing that cooler box of yours that’s as big as a coffin, don’t because it won’t get in.
Food and Beverages
There will be various food stalls and bars at the venue so even if you are are not bringing your own drinks, you will be covered in that regard.
Are Children Allowed?
While this is a family friendly event and people can come with their kids, there will not be a designated play area.
Festival Dress Code
It is a festival so anything adventurous and funky will do the trick.
However, the weather has been a bit unpredictable these past few days so be sure to carry something warm because it does get cold at the polo club if the temperatures are to take a dive.

- Portable toilets will be strategically placed in high-traffic areas across the festival grounds and will be regularly cleaned and maintained for your comfort.
Respect the Festival Grounds
- Help keep the festival grounds clean by using designated trash and recycling bins.
- Stay on marked pathways and avoid damaging the landscaping or facilities.
- Smoking is only allowed in designated smoking areas.
Be Courteous of Others
- Avoid blocking the views of others, especially during performances.
- Refrain from disruptive behavior, such as crowd surfing or moshing.
Stay Hydrated
- Drink plenty of water, particularly if it gets hot.
- Wear sunscreen and suitable clothing for the weather conditions.
- Use the medical/first aid stations if you require assistance.
Travel and Parking
- On-site parking is available, but carpooling is encouraged.
- Public transit and rideshare options are convenient alternatives.
- Plan for extra travel time, as traffic may be heavy.
- Use designated drop-off/pick-up zones if being dropped off or picked up.
Safety and Security
- All bags, coolers, and personal items will be searched upon entry.
- Alcohol is only allowed in designated areas.
- Illegal drugs and weapons are strictly prohibited on festival grounds.
- Security personnel are onsite to ensure everyone’s safety. Please follow their instructions.
- In case of an emergency, stay calm and follow directions from festival staff and security.
- Medical services and first aid stations are available throughout the event.
