Gertrude Mayanga, a supervisor in the customer value management section of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, is celebrating International Women’s Month by sharing her experiences and insights as a woman in business.

Despite facing unfair treatment because of her gender, Mayanga has used these experiences to motivate herself to prove her worth and achieve her goals.

She believes that March is a reminder that women no longer have to settle for second best and can accomplish anything they set their minds to.

Mayanga is a self-starter who values teamwork and maintaining a positive mindset.

“I like to maintain a positive mindset, giving off positive vibes and accepting the need for teamwork,” she said.

“We are all part of a team and I strongly believe that together we can win.”

As a mother of three daughters, she advocates for the empowerment of girls and wants to show them that the sky is not the limit.

Her advice for women in business is to believe in themselves and work hard.

“While pursuing my master’s degree studies, I put in extra effort to be fully confident in myself, believing I could achieve whatever I set out to if I put the right amount of effort and energy into it.

“That has worked wonders for me and I hope it’s something that I can impart in other women around me. Give it your all and you will surely succeed.”

Mayanga believes that women are a force to be reckoned with and can be agents of growth in all areas of society.

When not working or being a mother, she enjoys relaxing with DStv and using the My DStv App to download shows for viewing later.

“I also get to download the shows for viewing later on my computer, especially when there is no electricity, and that means I cannot be defeated, even by power cuts.”

International Women’s Month is a time for women to realize their potential and celebrate the women who inspire them.

Mayanga hopes to impart her knowledge and motivation to other women so they too can succeed.
