Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée
I wouldn’t consider myself a huge Givenchy fan but over the years I have had a few of their fragrances in my collection.
I was not even a follower until 2017 when I was gifted the Gentlemen Givenchy which had just been released then.
It was a solid fragrance which got me compliments every time I wore it and I ended up buying the EDP version as well when it came out. The EDP was even better and probably one of my favorite scents of 2018.
Unfortunately, I failed to get my hands on the Cologne which was released last year because the price range and my pockets were in disagreement.
While I would have loved to have more Givenchy fragrances, their price range is usually discouraging and considering that there are other options which are sometimes better and cheaper, I end up going for the later.
Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée Review
Back in July however, I got lucky and managed to lay my hands on the Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée, which is their most recent creation.
A woody spicy scent for men, it has notes that include pepper, coriander, geranium, iris, cedarwood, cocoa, sandalwood, burning woods and patchouli.

The noses behind the fragrance, just like the previous three releases, are Nathalie Lorson and Olivier Cresp who both boast of an impressive catalogue having worked with various prestigious brands.
Cresp has made fragrances for Carolina Herrera, Christian Dior, Dolce&Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Issey Miyake and Jean Paul Gaultier to name just a few.
On the other hand, Lorson has worked with Bvlgari, Azzaro, Bentley, Jimmy Choo, Moschino and Versace among others.
The way that Givenchy described this fragrance is what got me excited before I tried it out, calling it a new woody interpretation for the most sensual gentlemen.
The olfactory encounter begins with the spicy contact of black pepper with coriander, followed by a warm embrace between cocoa’s addictive accents and the sophisticated elegance of iris. A sensory experience enhanced by the woody notes of sandalwood and an oriental accord.
Revealing a captivating character, this woody-floral-spicy fragrance heightens the sensuality of any gentleman.
The first time I wore it, I was impressed with the opening which smelled really great and expensive. Sexy to be precise. But after about an hour it had faded slightly and became a skin scent before the third hour.
To be honest I was really disappointed that something can have such a great opening and I only got to enjoy it briefly.
I then decided to give it another try after about a week and this time around while the punch that comes with the opening died down a bit after some time, the scent lingered.
The first person I interacted with (about 2 hours later) gave me a compliment and asked what I was wearing. I got a few more compliments as the day progressed and while I felt like the projection had become a bit weak, I was surprised that people near me were actually noticing.
I am not sure if it is olfactory fatigue or the way that the fragrance is designed, but somehow people around me seem to take notice at a time when I will be thinking the scent is long gone.
When I stated using it in July, the weather was a bit cooler but with the temperatures getting a bit warmer, I have been getting better performance from the fragrance.
The longevity so far has been a bit suspect, but even as it dries down and becomes a skin scent, I get whiffs of it hours after spraying which is a good thing.
When I spray it on clothes rather than directly to the skin, I even get better performance and will be smelling it the whole day.
Every time someone asks me what I think about the fragrance, I am conflicted because I love it and it get me compliments, but I somehow feel like they could have done better and made it a bit stronger considering it’s an EDP concentration.
One of my friends who is also into fragrances once described Givenchy scents as an acquired taste and I agree with him to an extent.
Performance aside, the smell itself is just amazing, there is a sophisticated feel to it and during the period when you have just sprayed it, you get an undeniable elegant feeling.
Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée is really good for the office since it is not too loud and will definitely not offend any of your workmates.
It can also be a great date fragrance which is not too powerful but has that seductive element which can easily draw someone in.
Would I recommend you to buy it? If you can afford (US$108 – US$151), go ahead and grab it. Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée is definitely worth having in your collection.
On the other hand, if you are one of those individuals who have to save up and don’t want to take the hit or miss route, I would recommend you skip this one and go for the 2018 Gentleman EDP which I feel like is better.
Givenchy also has great scents for women with their recent addition being Irresistible Givenchy.
Buying fragrances can be a bit tricky as there is no shortage of counterfeits so you I would advise you to purchase at reputable outlets or individuals you actually trust.
If you are in Zimbabwe, Catts Beaute Sam Levy Village, Licorice Stores and Kenlink Pharmacies are some of the outlets I would recommend, especially with Givenchy brands which they get directly from the official distributors in the country.
