Floyd Mayweather Arrival in Zimbabwe Postponed to Thursday
The eagerly awaited arrival of Floyd “Money” Mayweather has been delayed, with the famous retired boxer now set to touch down on Thursday.
The delay is being attributed to bad weather conditions which might have complicated the boxer’s flight plan.
He is set to embark on a tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa which is being dubbed “The Motherland Tour”.
The tour was set to kick off tomorrow in Harare, followed by a visit to Johannesburg, on July 15th and 16th.
It remains uncertain whether Mayweather will engage in boxing matches during his visit or focus solely on making appearances.
In May 2022, Mayweather revealed his plan to visit Africa after a meeting with ZANU PF Harare Ward 21 councillor Scott Sakupwanya in Dubai.
Mayweather was Dubai with his former sparring partner Don Moore for an exhibition fight, but the event was abruptly canceled due to the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates.
The UAE observed a 40-day period of mourning, with the first three days involving the cancellation of all public and private sector activities.
