Emmanuel TV Discontinued on DStv Amidst BBC Allegations

DStv recently revealed plans to cease the broadcast of Emmanuel TV, the religious channel founded by the late Nigerian preacher TB Joshua.

This decision follows the exposure of disturbing allegations in a BBC documentary titled “Disciples: The Cult of TB Joshua.”

DStv recently revealed plans to cease the broadcast of Emmanuel TV, the religious channel founded by the late Nigerian preacher TB Joshua.

The documentary sheds light on accusations of sexual abuse, torture, and fraudulent miracles at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), the megachurch led by TB Joshua until his passing in June 2021.

Former SCOAN workers featured in the documentary testified to experiences of rape, beatings, and coerced abortions.

The BBC also reported that TB Joshua concealed the 2014 collapse of his guest house, resulting in the death of 115 people.

Emmanuel TV, known for broadcasting live services, crusades, prophecies, and humanitarian initiatives of SCOAN to a wide audience, has been a staple on DStv since 2006.

The channel showcases testimonials of individuals claiming healing from diseases, deliverance from demonic oppression, and miracles attributed to TB Joshua.

However, the BBC investigation raised concerns about the legitimacy and ethical practices behind these assertions, as well as the transparency of SCOAN’s operations.

In a brief on-screen statement, DStv announced the discontinuation of Emmanuel TV from January 17, 2024, thanking viewers for their support.

The channel will also cease airing on other pay-TV platforms, including StarSat.

Despite these developments, TB Joshua’s followers remain steadfast, dismissing the BBC and other critics as biased and envious of the late preacher’s popularity.

They express determination to continue supporting SCOAN’s ministry by watching Emmanuel TV online.

TB Joshua’s successor and widow, Evelyn Joshua, has not issued a statement regarding the removal of Emmanuel TV from DStv or the BBC documentary.
