Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has delivered an encouraging injury update ahead of Sunday’s Premier League visit to Crystal Palace, confirming that Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian are all available for selection.
The Blues travel to Selhurst Park looking to build momentum after their midweek Champions League victory over Pafos, a result that lifted confidence within the squad and kept Chelsea firmly in the hunt for a top-four finish.
Speaking to reporters on Friday afternoon, Rosenior revealed that recent illness and minor fitness concerns have eased, with several key players returning to training at the right time.
Palmer and Fernandez back in training

Cole Palmer, who missed the win over Pafos after feeling tightness in his thigh, has returned to the training ground and is expected to be assessed further following his involvement in Friday’s session.
“Cole is in a good place,” Rosenior said. “He joined in training today, which is really positive and we will assess his reaction to training after the session.”
Enzo Fernandez, who had been dealing with illness, came through most of the midweek fixture and has since trained fully with the squad. Rosenior confirmed the Argentine midfielder is now fit to face Palace.
Illness issues ease for Gittens and Estevao

Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian were both named on the bench against Pafos after recovering from illness, with Rosenior admitting the situation had disrupted preparations earlier in the week.
“In terms of sickness, the players hit by that are gradually coming back to full health,” he explained. “Estevao was very ill, Jamie Gittens was very ill, and it altered our plans. Thankfully, the lads have come through that, and so has Enzo as well.”
Both wide players are now fully available, giving Chelsea added attacking options as they look to secure another vital three points in the league.
Jorgensen ruled out, Napoli return possible
Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen will miss the Palace match after undergoing a scan on the injury he picked up against Pafos. However, Rosenior struck an optimistic tone regarding his recovery.
“The scan was actually quite positive and not as bad as we first feared,” he said. “He won’t be available for Palace this weekend, but he could potentially be okay for Napoli.”
Aside from Jorgensen, Rosenior confirmed there are no new concerns within the squad.
Essugo setback, Lavia progressing well

Chelsea will be without Dario Essugo for an extended period after the midfielder suffered an unfortunate training ground injury. Rosenior revealed Essugo is expected to be sidelined for more than a month.
“He slipped in training and he’s going to be out for a while,” Rosenior said. “It’s a real shame because he’s an outstanding player.”
There was more positive news regarding Romeo Lavia, who continues to make steady progress in his recovery. While the midfielder is unlikely to feature at Selhurst Park, the club remains cautious with his return.
“I want him back as quickly as possible, but with no more injuries,” Rosenior added. “We don’t want to force him. We want him back where he can get into a flow of repetitive game time.”
Focus on Palace and top-four push
With several key players returning to fitness, Chelsea head into Sunday’s fixture in a confident mood.
A positive result against Crystal Palace could see the Blues strengthen their push towards the Premier League’s top four, as Rosenior looks to build consistency on both domestic and European fronts.
Chelsea’s recent upturn in form has sharpened the focus on maintaining momentum, particularly away from home, where performances have at times been mixed this season.
Rosenior has repeatedly stressed the importance of game management and squad depth during a demanding run of fixtures, and the return of several senior players provides a timely boost as the schedule intensifies.
Crystal Palace, meanwhile, are expected to pose a stern test at Selhurst Park, a venue known for its atmosphere and physical challenges.
With European commitments continuing to stretch the squad, Rosenior will be keen to strike the right balance between rotation and continuity, as Chelsea aim to translate their midweek European confidence into crucial Premier League points.
