When Ngoma NeHosho announced that they would be hosting a DJ event called Carpe Diem, one might have been forgiven for thinking it is just another event.

The gig which was held last Saturday at Old Hararians Sports Club was not just another event as it turned out to be one of the biggest events held in the country this year.

With a solid line that comprised of Oscar Mbo, Prince KaybeeSun El Musician, Morda, Ryan Synth, Tannie Swiss, Spunj, Samuel Cosmic, Chiweddar, St. Emmo, Halui and Shaku Chante, it was always going to be a massive party.

Prior to the event, some had discounted it citing that the cold weather would discourage people from coming since it was being held outdoors. Others had also pointed out that many music lovers would opt for the JP and Winky D show which was at the HICC on the day.

However, Ngoma NeHosho proved once again that they heavyweights in the entertainment industry with enough pulling power to topple any obstacle.

The weather situation was handled effectively with braziers and gas heaters strategically placed in the venue.

Despite not being heavily marketed in mainstream media, VIP tickets were sold out hours before the event started with general entry tickets also moving fast.

By the time the sun set, the venue was almost packed to capacity with people still trickling in  right up to the end of the fete.

Carpe Diem takes off with a bang with thousands of patrons coming through to the event which was packed with loads of entertainment.

From the stage right up to the toilets, the organizers were leaving no stone unturned to ensure that their patrons had the best experience possible.

From the entrance, one could clearly see that everything was being done in an orderly manner with patrons being ushered into the venue without a fuss.

The setup was just perfect, with a balance between the VIP and general entry ticket holders such that none of the two parties were in each other’s way.

The stage work was done well, with excellent lighting and a sound system that really packed a punch.

Having allowed people to bring cooler boxes, pressure at the bar area was minimal which meant that those who had not brought their own drinks were not having a hard time to  fill up their cups.

As mentioned earlier, the lineup was put together in such a way that there was quality entertainment from the first DJ right up to the last act.

Everyone who took to the stage had brought their A-game and there was not a moment during the event were the tempo slid down.

One of the best performances of the night came from non other than Morda who proved that he is still among the best performers on the house music scene.

The former Black Motion DJ managed to stir things up with his antics behind the decks and dance moves that had the crowd going crazy.

Carpe Diem was definitely an event and a half and it comes as no surprise that those who attended are still buzzing about it on social platforms.

The organisers have also not wasted time in announcing the second edition which is set to be held on December 23.

With the massive success of the first Carpe Diem gig, the second show is certainly something to look forward to.
