Carpe Diem brings Oscar Mbo, Carpe Diem brings Oscar Mboand more to Harare this weekend
This Saturday all roads lead to Old Hararians Sports Club for what is set to be one of the biggest events of the year.
Carpe Diem which will gather some of the biggest DJs on the continent is certainly something not to be missed as it presents a once in a lifetime opportunity to see such greatness on one stage.
The massive lineup features Oscar Mbo, Prince Kaybee, Sun El Musician, Morda, Ryan Synth, Tannie Swiss, Spunj, Samuel Cosmic, Chiweddar, St. Emmo, Halui and Shaku Chante to name a few.
These artists will embark on a 12 hour entertainment marathon, kicking off at 12pm right up to midnight.
Organisers must be commended for creating this blend off acts who all bring their different and unique styles behind the decks.
In an interview with 263Culture event organiser Walter Wanyanya said they came up with the event to provide music lovers with an opportunity to reboot.
“Carpe Diem as the name suggests means seize the day. The name itself originates from a Latin Phrase and it acutely describes what we want music lovers to embrace on the day, we want the audience to forget about the day to day worries that we all for and enjoy great music with friends and family in an environment that is perfect for one to focus on nothing else but good times,” said Wanyanya.
While most live events are dominated by musicians, this particular one is a bit interesting as it is focusing on DJs.
Some of the acts are not just ordinary DJs, but rather artists who have been creating mega hits for years with no signs of slowing down.
“Curating acts for any of the events we do is the fun part for me, I equate to a chef who is making a meal and he has to carefully choose the right ingredients to eventually have a memorable feast for his guests.
“We are certain that we have a very entertaining line up that will make sure everyone finds something that they will enjoy.”
Ngoma NeHosho has been responsible for some of the biggest events in the county including Jacaranda Music Festival and adding this to that list is proof of their unlimited creativity.
“Its been an exciting journey as a live music producer and I am very excited about this particular event because I have seen how much DJ’s have improved to being respected as fully fledged artists.
“So the DJs themselves have a lot to prove and we are happy to build them an event that will allow them to showcase their talents.”
He added that many people had been buying advance tickets and encouraged those who are interested in attending the event to grab them early to avoid disappointment.
The tickets are going got $20 general entry and $40 for VIP access and they are being sold at Techtools Avondale, Pariah State Avondale and Pariah State Borrowdale.
While patrons are allowed to come with cooler boxes, they will have to pay a $10 corkage fee.
