Disney World annual passes back on sale

On Thursday morning, the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World was a little less magical for fans hoping to purchase an annual pass.

After being suspended for 16 months to manage crowd levels, sales of the year-long passes to Disney’s Florida theme parks were once again made available, causing wait times in the queue to stretch to several hours long.

Although Florida residents were able to purchase annual passes for $399, pent-up demand was apparent from the long wait times as most people haven’t had the opportunity to become an annual passholder for over a year.

However, even by those standards, the wait times were still quite long.

Ahead of Thursday’s offering, Disney had stated that sales wouldn’t begin before 6:00 a.m. ET.

However, a two-hour wait started at 9:00 a.m. ET and was still ongoing at 11:50 a.m. ET, with the progress bar only showing around a quarter of the way filled.

Despite the long wait times, some people in line may not have walked away with a pass.

Disney warned that only a limited number of passes would be available, and future clamp downs could come when they announced plans to resume sales.

For non-Florida residents, an annual pass doesn’t come cheap.

The top-tier pass, called the Incredi Pass (which has no blockout dates), costs $1,399 for one year’s access. This is a $100 increase from the last time it was on sale.

Disney World first suspended sales of new annual passes during its four-month pandemic shutdown in 2020.

It resumed sales in September 2021 with new prices, restrictions, and names, only to suspend sales again two months later.
